Former Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney will chair the new-look Board of Sunwater in a shake-up announced by the State Government on Thursday.

The government-owned corporation maintains 19 bulk water supply dams in Queensland, including Bjelke-Petersen and Boondooma dams in the South Burnett.

The new appointments to the Sunwater Board are Jeff Seeney (chair) and directors John Cotter, John Davis, Katy Steele and Dr Kayleen Walsh.

A similar shake-up has occurred at Seqwater with existing Board member John McEvoy appointed chair with new members Amanda Cooper, Mark Girard, Amanda Kenafake, Antonia Mercorella and Pauline Thomson.

Water Minister Ann Leahy said unlocking Queensland’s water supply was the key to delivering economic opportunity to rural and regional communities.

“With the assistance of Sunwater and Seqwater we will deliver new weirs, water infrastructure and cost relief for irrigators, to ensure every drop of water will be put to good use growing our local economies,” she said.
