In case you hadn’t noticed all the pink pigs around Kingaroy, we have some news for you, it’s BaconFest time again!
However, this year’s festival is going to be a bit different … for a start, it’s in Memorial Park (not the Kingaroy CBD) and it has been compressed to just two days.
On Friday night (August 15), a community “welcome” event will be held in the park from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.
This “Bacon Street Feast” will feature food trucks and market stalls, live music and a licensed bar (BYO chair or picnic rug). Tickets are $11.80 (14s & under are free) and can be booked online
The main event is on Saturday.
The day will start with the “Big Bacon Breakfast” from 7:00am to 9:00am. The ticket price of $11.80 (under 5s are free) includes a bacon and egg burger and juice. There’ll also be market stalls and live entertainment (again BYO chair or picnic rug).
NB. If you want to stay and catch all the rest of the festival – including the main concert – brekkie tickets are $43.05 for adults, $37.95 (concession), $11.80 for children (aged 5-14) and under 5s are free. Big Bacon Breakfast tickets can be booked online
However, the big attraction is BaconFest itself, and the organisers are “tickled pink” that Australian country music legend Troy Cassar-Daley will be headlining the live music this year!
There’ll be entertainment on the main stage all day (see below), starting with the Kingaroy State High School Stage Band at 10:00am and finishing with local band RYZA at 8:00pm.
Troy Cassar-Daley is scheduled to hit the microphone at 6:30pm.
Local artists who have been booked over Friday and Saturday also include Amber Goldsmith, Amos, Dean Perrett, Groundcrew, the Hard Yakka Rock Show, Lloyd Back, Mr Q, Natalie Fenton, Nathan Hartley, Rufus Jack, Vix and the 44 Pounders.
As well as the great entertainment, all the regular BaconFest favourites will be happening, including the bacon-eating competition (select the bacon-eating option when booking your BaconFest ticket), the Australian Barbecue Alliance Sunpork smoke-off, celebrity chef demonstrations and children’s activities – including an inflatable obstacle course, a jumping castle, face-painting and lots of other activities.
This year’s celebrity chefs are South Burnett foodie lovers’ favourite, Alastair McLeod, and 2024 My Kitchen Rules winner, Simone Prest.
Basketball fans will also get the chance to see another celebrity in action … former NBA star Nathan Jawai (ex-Minnesota Timberwolves and Cairns Taipans) who will be running free basketball workshops on the Council courts in Memorial Park (just outside the BaconFest precinct – pass-outs will be available) at 11:30am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm on Saturday.
Tickets to BaconFest alone (10:00am to 9:00pm) are $37.95 for adults, $32.80 (concession) and free for children 14 and under. Tickets can be booked online
Visitors to town will be able to make use of a free shuttle bus which will be making regular loops around Kingaroy from 6:00am to 9:00pm, stopping off at the Kingaroy Showground, local motels and the Visitor Information Centre.
2025 Chief Baconeer Rob Fitz-Herbert said the decision to move the festival to Memorial Park this year had been made to create the best possible venue for Troy Cassar-Daley’s performance.
BaconFest has been supported by SunPork Fresh Foods since 2018.
