Three more riders cross the finishing line at Yarraman for the Festival Of Cycling
August 6, 2025
Successfully completing a 160km cycle trek along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail has to be something to celebrate, and the Yarraman community made sure that happened on Saturday.
For the second year in a row, local volunteers and Wild Horse FM organised the Yarraman Festival to greet the riders with country hospitality as they rolled in.
There were market stalls, music, food vans, dog high jumping, a petting zoo and even dogs available to be cuddled!
This is the fifth time the Festival Of Cycling, which is organised by the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Users Association (BVRTUA), has been held.
Riders have the choice of three route lengths: 160km from Wulkuraka, 75km from Toogoolawah or 50km from Moore.
All the rides finish at the Yarraman Rail Head in Station Park.
A total of 241 riders registered for the 2025 event, including 131 who tackled the full 160km ride.
The riders were supported along the ride with mechanical repairs, first aid and water stations.
Paul Heymans, from the Somerset area, started the BVRTUA in 2014.
He said the group had been running events on the full length of the rail trail since 2017, even before the “missing gap” between Toogoolawah and Moore was completed.
