Yurika – part of Energy Queensland – and the South Burnett Regional Council are currently building a high-speed telecommunication fibre link to the South Burnett, with funding support from the State Government.
A Council spokesperson said the project was valued at about $7 million.
It will provide a new telecommunications link capable of carrying up to 100GB of data per second.
Individual connections of up to 10GB per second will be available for businesses, schools and health providers.
“The project follows the existing Energy Queensland network and will deploy in Kingaroy and Nanango with future stages possible for Wondai, Murgon, Cherbourg and Blackbutt,” the spokesperson said.
A major infrastructure telecommunication cabinet is currently being built in Kingaroy.
This unit will be wrapped with artwork by local artists Robert and Robyn Langton which was unveiled at Kingaroy’s NAIDOC celebration in Memorial Park earlier this month.
