South Burnett Regional Council hosted the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s July meet’n’greet in the Kingaroy Town Hall Reception Room.
It was an opportunity for South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff to discuss Council’s recent Budget, the negotiation of Council’s latest Enterprise Bargaining Agreements, and distribute copies of the Draft Community Plan for Kingaroy.
(Council recently released draft community plans for 18 South Burnett towns and communities, see below).
Mayor Duff said there would be opportunities in August to provide feedback on the Draft Community Plans.

Cr Danita Potter introduced members of the South Burnett Youth Council who said they were hoping to organise a music event for youth in the South Burnett.
They had already been involved NAIDOC Week activities and Bjelke-Petersen Dam Family Fun Day.

Cameron Plum, from Stanwell, said BUMA’s contract as mine operator at Meandu coal mine expires at the end of June next year.
Stanwell Corporation will call for tenders seeking companies interested in operating the mine from July 1, 2026.
He said it was “business as usual” at the mine in the meantime, which delivers 6 million tonnes a year to the Tarong power stations.
“We are here for as long as we are required … for many, many years to come,” he said.

CROW-FM station manager Rowena Irvine said the station was turning 30 this year.
It was planning to hold an Open Day on October 18 with station tours, giveaways, live music and a barbecue.
The station is also offering opportunities for volunteers to study a Certificate II in Creative Industries.
