Three local community funds are currently offering funding opportunities for South Burnett not-for-profit groups:

Tarong Community Partnership Fund

The fund is particularly interested in supporting community projects that boost economic capacity, strengthen preparedness and resilience, and genuinely improve the quality of life.

To be eligible to apply to the fund, projects must meet at least ONE of the below criteria:

  • Facilitates a collaborative approach to social connectedness
  • Leads to increased employment
  • Improves access to and/or sustainability of existing critical services
  • Enhances educational opportunities and personal leadership
  • Builds community economic capacity, preparedness and resilience

Powerlink Community Grants

The 2025 Powerlink Community Grants program is now open with up to $450,000 available to support community initiatives throughout regional Queensland.

Community groups, community clubs and not-for-profit groups across 18 Local Government Areas –  including the South Burnett, Gympie, Toowoomba, Western Downs and Somerset council areas – are encouraged to apply for the grants  valued up to $5000 each.

Applications must be received by 5:00pm on Friday, August 22, 2025.

Coopers Gap Wind Farm Community Enhancement Fund

The Coopers Gap Wind Farm Community Enhancement Fund is open for applications.

The fund is designed to support communities within 25km of the Coopers Gap Wind Farm, with a focus on the communities of Kumbia, Bell and Jandowae.

The 25km radius also includes the Bunya Mountains, Wengenville, Alice Creek and Mannuem.

The focus of the fund is to support initiatives that benefit:

  • Education
  • Youth
  • Environment
  • Health, safety and wellbeing
  • Community infrastructure
  • Arts and culture
  • Economic development
  • Social welfare
