More than 40 organisations and training providers will be at the South Burnett Careers Market at TAFE’s Kingaroy campus on Geritz Road on Thursday (July 24).

The free event will run from 8:30am to 3:00pm with stalls, interactive displays and hands-on activities.

Senior school students will be coming along, but the event is open for all community members.

Attendees can discuss job prospects with employers and explore courses with training organisations and TAFE teachers.

“The South Burnett region is continuing to experience job growth across a range of industries, from the traditional trades, food and meat processing to hospitality,” TAFE Queensland General Manager (South West Region) Kate Venables said.

“This event is a great opportunity to chat with local employers about job opportunities. You can also tour the facilities and workshops at the Kingaroy campus, meet with our experienced trainers, and get involved in hands-on career activities.

“At TAFE Queensland, we are dedicated to equipping South Burnett residents with industry-aligned, practical training to help them thrive in their chosen career pathways and we can’t wait for the community to join us on campus for this event.”

Among the wide range of organisations participating will be the team from Stanwell to discuss job opportunities.

SunPork Fresh Foods will be serving pork sliders.

Representatives from the South Burnett Regional Council will be on hand to talk about local traineeships and careers in local government, while emergency services staff members from the Queensland Police, Fire, and Ambulance services will be available.

The University of Queensland’s Maker Space will be featured, showcasing projects and offering hands-on activities for attendees interested in technology and engineering.

Representatives from the University of Queensland, the University of Tasmania, QUT, and the University of Southern Queensland will also be in attendance.

Local tradies have been invited to come along and meet the team from TradeTools, Makita, and Metabo who will have their merchandise on hand.

The Kingaroy Rotary Club will be have a sausage sizzle to raise funds for charity and Kingaroy State High School hospitality students will be baristas for the day.
