It may have been delayed, but the South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club’s annual two-day gem show really “rocked” at Wondai Sportsground at the weekend.
The annual celebration of everything from crystal creations to uncut gemstones is usually held in April but wet weather ahead of the scheduled dates forced the club to postpone the event earlier this year at the last minute.
However, the committee was determined the show must go on, so dates in July were quickly organised.
The 2025 event was officially opened on Saturday by local councillor Ros Heit.
The Wondai Lions Club Pavilion was again packed with stalls and visitors watching demonstrations or poring over the items on offer.
Lions members were also kept busy at the canteen and barbecue area.
Outside the pavilion there were more stalls to peruse and activities for kids, including a mini “fossicking” area where children could find tiny agates.
This is the fourth year the popular event has been held at the Wondai Sportsground.
