Local community groups will share almost $367,500 in funding under the latest round of the State Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants program.
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington congratulated the Round 123 recipients who were announced on Wednesday.
Local grants this round include:
- Ballogie Community Association – build driveway, carpark and purchase shipping container – $24,200
- Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club – upgrade facility and buy equipment – $31,542
- Kingaroy BaconFest – to host festival – $35,000
- Kingaroy Bowls Club – install irrigation system and buy mower – $28,486.31
- Murgon Hospital Auxiliary – buy medical equipment – $19,163.84
- Proston and District Lions Club – buy equipment – $2563.50
- South Burnett Educational Wildlife Support Group – install solar system, upgrade carpark and buy equipment – $29,000
- South Burnett Peace of Mind – buy food van – $27,875
- South Burnett Quarter Horse Cutters – buy shipping container and equipment – $14,338
- Widgee Pony Club – upgrade fence – $25,900
- Wondai Hospital Auxiliary – buy curtains and equipment – $26,275.40
- Wooroolin Lions Club – build shed – $33,675.78
- Wooroolin QCWA Branch – construct covered deck – $34,496.50
- Yarraman & District Community Kindergarten – upgrade access ramp and facility – $34,980
Mrs Frecklington said the grants would benefit community groups that have faced challenges through cost-of-living increases.
‘These grants allow profits from gambling to be invested back into grassroots services and facilities that benefit people from all walks of life in the local community,” she said.
“The next round is closing soon and it’s a Super Round, so if you’re part of a local organisation in need of a major funding boost for facility improvements or substantial equipment purchases – make sure you get your application in before July 18.”
