A body – believed to be that of a fisherman who went missing at Boondooma Dam last week – was retrieved by searchers on Monday.

Water police and SES volunteers had resumed their search of the dam and foreshores for the missing man on Monday morning.

The 74-year-old Glenwood man left to go fishing at Little Cove about 5:15am on Thursday morning, taking with him yabby and crab pots.

His inflatable dinghy was located abandoned close to the dam’s shoreline about 9:15am, with its motor in gear and still running.

A search of the dam and shoreline began immediately. Extra resources, including police divers, were added to the search on Friday.

A police spokesperson said the search had continued across the weekend, with a helicopter brought in again on Sunday.

The body was located in the water within the search area about noon on Monday.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
