The draws for ballot paper positions for the upcoming Federal Election were held on Friday (April 11) at public events in each electorate.
Three Federal Electorates cut across the South Burnett region, each currently held by an LNP MP:
- Flynn (which includes Wondai and Proston) – Colin Boyce with a 3.82 per cent margin
- Maranoa (which includes Wooroolin, Kingaroy, Kumbia and Blackbutt) – David Littleproud with a 22.12 per cent margin
- Wide Bay (which includes Murgon, Cherbourg, Goomeri and Kilkivan) – Llew O’Brien with an 11.34 per cent margin
The Federal Election will be held on Saturday, May 3, but pre-poll voting will begin at various locations from April 22.
(We will publish a final list of early voting centres when it is available, but at this stage there will be a location in Kingaroy and Nanango. We will publish a full list of local polling booths when it is available, too).
All early voting centres will be closed on Anzac Day, April 25.
Applications for Postal Votes are now open (more information is on the AEC website).
There are a record number of voters enrolled across Australia for this Federal Election.
According to the Australian Electoral Commission, 18,098,797 people are enrolled to vote ie. 98.2 per cent of eligible Australians.
This is 870,000 more people who have enrolled since the 2022 Federal Election.
Remember, voting is compulsory.
