Cooyar residents have been invited to “have a conversation” with Toowoomba councillors on Thursday (April 10) to share their ideas about the town and surrounding area.

Mayor Geoff McDonald said the “Community Conversations” event was aimed at gathering local people’s vision for their town.

“Cooyar is one of our region’s great townships and councillors want to hear from residents, property owners and businesses about their ideas for the area,” Mayor McDonald said.

“We want to hear their aspirational ideas on ways to shape the development of the town and community.

“This is an opportunity for the community to brainstorm their ideas with councillors and have a conversation about the future of Cooyar.”

Mayor McDonald said there would not be any pre-determined topics and the conversations would be informal.

Residents were invited to discuss any ideas that fell within Council’s area of influence.

“This event will help to give Council a better understanding of the community’s needs and aspirations,” Mayor McDonald said.

“People will then have the opportunity to have their ideas recorded via giant notepads on tables inside the hall and to then have further conversations on specific topics with councillors,” he said.

“All feedback will be collated for consideration by Council.”

The “Community Conversations” event will be held at Cooyar and District Memorial Hall on Thursday, April 10, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
