The two-day South Burnett Gem Show – due to be held at the Wondai Sportsground this weekend – has been postponed due to the weather.
“After careful consideration of the current weather that we are having, and a close inspection of the Wondai Sportsground, the Gem Show committee has made the decision to postpone our Gem Show that was to be held on April 5-6,” South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club secretary Karen Mead said.
“As you can imagine, the decision has not been made lightly, especially considering the amount of time, effort, resources and costs already expended in staging our show.
“Although the weather forecast is for a fine weekend, the entrance to the sportsground is quickly becoming very boggy, and we do not wish to damage the grassed areas in the grounds.
“The committee will be meeting soon to determine another date later in the year that we can put this event on.”
This would have been the fourth year the very popular event would have been held at the Wondai Sportsground.
