Taabinga Tots celebrated National Playgroup Week with a special free Playgroup Party on Monday at Taabinga State School.

Parents and carers brought along their children for the fun morning of play.

Taabinga State School’s Sue Murphy said the Taabinga Tots playgroup began in 2018 and is proud that it was the first to be run within schoolgrounds in Kingaroy.

“It came about because of a need for early years development in the South Burnett,” Sue said.

Anywhere between six to 20 children come along every Monday morning between 9:00am and 10:30am.

“There’s no need to book,” Sue said.

“Playgroups benefit children, families and the community.

“While it is true that children can play anywhere, playgroups have the added benefit of providing opportunities for playing with other children and practising important social skills.”

Sue said parents and carers from across the South Burnett were welcome to bring along any child aged from 0 to 5 years.
