Nanango’s Joe Carney (37 not out) had a lucky escape while hitting towards the boundary

Nanango Scorpions, sitting in second spot on the South Burnett senior cricket ladder, proved too strong for Tingoora Huntsman last Saturday.

As it was the final round of the regular season, it was also Huntsmen’s final game of the season.

Tingoora won the toss and elected to bat, finishing 8/125.

Nicholas Johannessen was the top scorer with 22 runs.

Josephine Black took 4/43 runs off 7.1 overs for Nanango.

In reply, Scorpions overtook the target in 22.1 overs for the loss of two wickers.

Top scorer was Jayden Prendergast who retired at 50 not out after reaching his half-century.

Joshua Miller was the best of the Huntsmen bowlers, taking 2/26 off eight overs.

Nanango downed Huntsmen by eight wickets.

Scorpions have earned a spot in next Saturday’s first round of finals games.

Ben Greenslade, who finished not out 24 for Nanango, hit two sixes and two fours in his short time at the crease

Gympie A Grade Grand Final

The Gympie A Grade Two-Day competition Grand Final featured two South Burnett teams but was played in Gympie last Saturday and Sunday.

And despite the name, the Grand Final is scheduled to continue into Day 3 next Saturday (March 8).

Warriors won the toss and elected to bat.

At the end of their first innings,  Warriors were all out for 250 runs in 82.1 overs.

Matthew Dugdell was top scorer with 72 runs, while Tom Carney took 3/31 off 21 overs.

Murgon Crusaders were all out for 123 at the end of their first innings in 53.3 overs.

Brenton Polzin was top-scorer with 57 runs, while Matthew Dugdell took 4/6 off seven overs.

Warriors won first innings points.

Warriors were all out for 153 in their second innings (49.1 overs).

Clinton Zemek (45) was the top scorer, while Lehman Brunjes took 4/32 off 9.1 overs.

At stumps on Day 2, Murgon Crusaders were 2/16 and trailing by 264 runs.
