The South Burnett Regional Council will receive $100,000 from the State Government in a bid to speed up housing development approvals.
The $12.5 million Scheme Supply Fund aims to help councils deliver planning scheme improvements to improve assessment timeframes and cut the number of applications that require specialist reviews.
Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie said the program was a key part of the government’s commitment to addressing housing supply challenges across Queensland.
“We have no time to waste as we work towards our target of building one million homes in the next 20 years,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
“This fund will help councils bring forward projects that deliver real solutions for their communities’ housing needs.
“This collaborative approach will help unlock more homes faster and provide Queenslanders with the housing options they need.”
Guidelines for the fund were announced in August last year.
