A 21-year-old Kingaroy man has lost his driver’s licence for six months after being caught driving at almost twice the legal speed limit in a Kingaroy residential street on Saturday.
A Kingaroy Highway Patrol officer detected the man driving at 116km/h in a 60km/h zone on Haly Street at 12:21pm on Saturday.
Police pulled him over in First Avenue.
The driver allegedly told police he thought he was travelling at 60km/h and was “having trouble with the sports mode of his vehicle”.
The man as fined $1854 and will accumulate eight demerit points.
