South Burnett Regional Council’s annual Australia Day Awards ceremony will be held this year in Blackbutt.
The awards ceremony, at Blackbutt Memorial Hall, will be held on Saturday, January 25, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, with all nominees and South Burnett residents invited to attend.
Like previous years, the ceremony is being held before Australia Day so that all nominees and award winners will be able to take part – and be acknowledged – at their own towns’ Australia Day events on January 26.
The awards will be compered by former Nanango councillor Rod Morgan and an afternoon tea will be provided afterwards.
Mayor Kathy Duff congratulated all the nominees, acknowledging their commitment to the community.
“Each nominee for an Australia Day Award has showcased outstanding community involvement and the resilience that defines our rural community,” Mayor Duff said.
“These awards offer the chance to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding individuals and groups dedicated to making a lasting difference in our region.”
South Burnett Regional Council will be holding a Citizenship Ceremony on Australia Day at the Kingaroy Scout Den as part of Kingaroy’s Australia Day event.
