The speed limit on Mount Wooroolin Road in Kingaroy has been cut from 100km/h to 60km/h after a review.

The new limit applies to the section of the road from Haly Street to the intersection with the Mount Wooroolin Access Road (see map, below)

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said new signs were expected to be erected during next week, weather permitting.

“In undertaking a review of the road and road environment it was deemed that Mount Wooroolin Road has a significant proportion of recreational traffic with walkers and cyclists accessing the Mount Wooroolin Reserve,” the spokesperson said.

“The following factors were also considered; the connecting road, Haly Street, already has a posted speed of 60km/h; the road has a single-lane seal; and the roadside environment is likely to support a local wildlife population.

“The review was undertaken in liaison with representatives from our local emergency services. As a result of this review the decision was made to reduce the speed limit to help protect our more vulnerable road users.

“Please drive to the prevailing road conditions and adhere to signage.”
