Charges against a man arrested after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in River Road, Kingaroy, were mentioned in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Friday.

Jade Hugh Cherry, who has been remanded in custody, faces charges of:

  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and leaving the scene without obtaining help
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Driver failing to remain at an incident and render assistance
  • Two counts of driving while disqualified by a court order
  • Evading police
  • Failing to provide a specimen or breath or saliva
  • Driving an unregistered vehicle

Police will allege that Cherry, 30, was the driver of a black Mercedes-Benz which struck 36-year-old Kingaroy man Colin Watson about 5:00am on September 3.

Watson was walking with another man when the incident occurred.

Police later located the Mercedes at an address on Boonenne-Ellesmere Road at Taabinga.

The matter was adjourned to December 20 for further mention.
