The inaugural Nanango Homemade Market – which took over Ringsfield House on Saturday and Sunday – has been hailed as a big success.
The Christmas pop-up shop featured 30 stalls, all offering hand-made craft items.
The markets were the brainchild of Nanango residents Lani and Tammy Greenslade and were sponsored by the Nanango Tourism and Development Association (NaTDA) and Heritage Community Branch Nanango.
The pair reported back to NaTDA’s monthly meeting on Thursday night that 1371 individual items had been sold over the two days!
As well, the volunteers from the Kingaroy QCWA sold more than 50 dozen scones and dozens of sandwiches.
Not only did the many visitors to Ringsfield go home with unique gifts, a local charity also benefited from the sales.
The Nanango Hospital Auxiliary will receive donations of $1000 from the QCWA and $2000 from the Homemade Market team to go towards a palliative care bed.
Cr Jane Erkens said it had been a fabulous two days and the crowd numbers had been amazing.
Congratulations to Tammy and Lani for all the hard work in getting this market up and running and making it such a success. Everybody that helped needs to be congratulated for their hard work also, and also the community that went and supported the market. What a great weekend for Nanango.
