A 46-year-old man has been arrested at Pie Creek and charged with 25 offences following the alleged theft of copper wire from across south-east Queensland.

The arrest follows an investigation by Gympie detectives into multiple reports of theft or damage to copper cabling in Gympie, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and surrounding areas between June and November.

A police spokesperson said about 30kg of copper wiring, damaged insulation and drug paraphernalia were seized by police at the Pie Creek property on November 11.

The man has been charged with 12 counts of wilful damage, nine counts of stealing and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, evasion offence at night, possess utensils or pipes that had been used and failing to take reasonable care and precautions with a syringe or needle.

He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Gympie Magistrates Court on December 9.
