A former South Burnett Eagles rugby league player has been jailed after being found guilty of rape during a four-day trial this week in the Kingaroy District Court.
Tyson Alexander Ellul, formerly of Nanango, pleaded not guilty to the charge of raping the woman after the pair had been drinking together and playing pool at a Kingaroy hotel.
The Crown alleged the sexual assault occurred four years ago on the bonnet of a vehicle parked in King Street.
The court was told the victim was too drunk to consent to the act.
Ellul, who now lives in Brisbane, was found guilty by a jury on Thursday.
On Friday, Judge Paul Smith AM sentenced Ellul, 22, to five years in prison, to be suspended after he serves 27 months.
