NSW Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for information following the suspicious death of a Queensland grandmother.

Wendy Hansen, 63, was last seen withdrawing cash from an ATM in Monto on Thursday, February 29.

When she failed to return home, Queensland Police began inquiries into her whereabouts.

After investigations, police obtained CCTV footage of Wendy driving south on the Bruce Highway near Wild Horse Mountain on the Sunshine Coast about 2:30pm the same day.

On Tuesday, June 18, NSW police investigated human remains found half-buried in bushland near Jordan Esplanade at Coffs Harbour.

The body has since been identified as belonging to Ms Hansen.

Detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad have established Strike Force Osbox to investigate the suspicious death.

Detectives have appealed to the public who may have any information, CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist the investigation to contact them or Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.

Police are especially interested in the location of Ms Hansen’s vehicle which has not yet been found.

The vehicle is a silver 2007 two-door Mitsubishi Pajero (Queensland registration 645-TCZ).
