A three-month trial will offer residents 24-hour access to the Memerambi Transfer Station.
Mayor Kathy Duff said the trial would start on Sunday, September 1.
“There have been problems in the past with vandalism resulting in the community having reduced access during the day for up to three days a week,” Mayor Duff said.
“The community has been asking why and want it changed.
“We are really keen to work with the community on all of our transfer stations, but it is becoming increasingly difficult because people don’t always do the right thing.
“Generally across our transfer stations there are designated areas that are signed, for green waste, metals and for general waste. Each tip is signed to what it can accept.
“Cameras are installed to deter people from doing the wrong thing. It only takes one person to spoil it for everyone.”
Mayor Duff urged residents to keep the facility tidy during the trial so that it could continue afterwards.
