P&C volunteers put in an “Olympic” effort on Saturday night to raise funds for the local State School at the annual Kumbia Brain Drain.

Kumbia State School P&C secretary Mia Dugdell said the tally so far was $10,000 raised.

“So we are very happy with that!” she said.

The P&C had not yet decided on what to do with the money, although it had plans to do up both the Kindy and the Prep areas at the school.

The 29th Kumbia Brain Drain – a wacky annual trivia competition held in the Memorial Hall – had a “Go For Gold” Olympics theme.

The 16 teams which booked in were invited to dress up to match.

Compere was Channel 9’s Ian Healy … er, not really … Maidenwell’s Dean Cullen put in an game-winning effort behind the mike.

The group which took out the “Best Dressed” title were “Front Row Seats” which dressed as lifeguards.

The overall winning team on the night was “Glad We’re Not Naked Like The Original Olympians”.

In second place were the “Aussie Fencing Team” and third were the “Floorworld Allstars”.
