A woman has been airlifted to hospital with critical injuries after a single-vehicle crash on the D’Aguilar Highway near Harlin on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the incident at 1:15pm after reports a vehicle pulling a caravan had hit a tree.
Firefighters used cutting equipment to gain access to the vehicle and remove the two occupants.
A QFD spokesperson said one person was freed just before 1:50pm, while the second was released about 10 minutes later.
A QAS spokesperson said a woman suffered significant life-threatening head injuries and a significant arm injury.
She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital after a rescue helicopter landed on the highway near the crash site.
A second person in the vehicle, a man, was transported by road ambulance to the same hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.
The incident occurred about 14km east of the Brisbane Valley Highway intersection, blocking traffic in both directions.
At 3:30pm, the highway was still closed.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
