A woman has been airlifted to hospital with critical injuries after a single-vehicle crash on the D’Aguilar Highway near Harlin on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident at 1:15pm after reports a vehicle pulling a caravan had hit a tree.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to gain access to the vehicle and remove the two occupants.

A QFD spokesperson said one person was freed just before 1:50pm, while the second was released about 10 minutes later.

A QAS spokesperson said a woman suffered significant life-threatening head injuries and a significant arm injury.

She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital after a rescue helicopter landed on the highway near the crash site.

A second person in the vehicle, a man, was transported by road ambulance to the same hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.

The incident occurred about 14km east of the Brisbane Valley Highway intersection, blocking traffic in both directions.

At 3:30pm, the highway was still closed.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
