The occupants of a Nanango house were lucky to escape injury when a 4WD ploughed through the front rooms of the wooden home on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to the incident, on the corner of Appin Street West and Chester Street, about 9:30am.

The driver of the Toyota HiLux dualcab ute apparently lost control while driving up Appin Street West.

The 4WD then crossed a grassed area, culvert and footpath before smashing through the side gate of the property.

It then crashed through the side of the building, pushing out the wall on the other side, just centimetres away from a vehicle parked outside.

Luckily, the owner was in the rear of the structure when the incident occurred.

He and his two dogs escaped injury; his wife and sons were not at home at the time.

The building, which is believed to be more than 100 years old, had only recently been renovated.

An heirloom clock, which was in a front room, was smashed by the runaway vehicle.

A QAS spokesperson said the the occupants of the 4WD – a man and a woman with two small children – were taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition.

A police spokesperson said the cause of the crash was still being investigated and it was too early to say whether the driver had suffered a medical episode or if mechanical failure was to blame.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family.

One Response to "4WD Ploughs Through Home"

  1. What a shame to see that old Heritage house all recently renovated in such a devastated state of ruin. As a young person we lived just down the road. My brother knew the home inside out as he spent a great deal of time playing with the two boys who lived there. For us it was always known as Coop’s house. I am so pleased nobody was seriously injured.
