Murgon cricketer Courtney Sippel has swapped her teal Brisbane Heat uniform for the bright pink of the Sydney Sixers.

Sippel, 23, has signed up to play for for the Sixers for the next three years.

She joined the Heat as a teenager ahead of WBBL|04 in 2018, and since then has spent six seasons (and 48 games) with the Brisbane side.

Along the way, Sippel also played for the Queensland Fire and Australia A.

Sixers general manager Rachael Haynes said the club was thrilled to sign the young star.

“Courtney is not only an incredibly exciting young player, but from what we have seen from her, she’s a fantastic person who embodies all that the Sixers are about,” she said.

“It’s a terrific opportunity for her to be mentored by some of the best players and coaches in the game and we know she’s looking forward to getting amongst our group and soaking up all that she can.”

Sippel said she was excited to be joining the team and could not wait to get down to Sydney.

In the meantime, she has been selected in the Australia A squad which will be taking on India in a seven-match series in Queensland, starting on August 7.

Australia A will be playing three T20s, three one-day games plus a four-day match at various venues across the State.

The Sydney Sixers will start their WBBL|10 campaign on October 27 in Adelaide against the Melbourne Renegades.
