A truck driver aged in his 50s was airlifted to hospital on Wednesday morning after a cattle truck carrying stock rolled on the Blackbutt Range.
Emergency services were called to the incident, about 11km east of Blackbutt on the D’Aguilar Highway about 10:30am.
A QAS spokesperson said a rescue helicopter managed to land reasonably close to the crash site.
The man was transferred to the helicopter and airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition with significant head injuries.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said two rescue crews attended and assisted with rounding up cattle off the highway.
The cattle truck was laying on its side but the driver was not trapped in the wreckage.
The highway was still closed to traffic in both directions at 3:00pm, with diversions in place.
How many cows were hurt?
We attempted to find that out but the information was not available.
