A 46-year-old Murgon man is due to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court next week on a string of charges related to a dramatic crash in Bundaberg last year.

The man was allegedly driving a B-Double carrying molasses which veered off the road at a major intersection in the Bundaberg suburb of Thabeban about 6:20am on August 19.

A police spokesperson said the vehicle mounted a traffic island at the intersection of Bundaberg Ring Road and Goodwood Road, sideswiped a traffic light and crashed through a railing before tipping over into a ditch.

The driver suffered minor injuries from the crash.

The Murgon man has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, possessing a used drug utensil, driving under the influence, driving unregistered vehicles and breaching heavy vehicle safety legislation (solo driver taking less than the minimum rest time).

He is expected to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on July 11.
