More than 150 veterinary practices across Queensland have signed up for the RSPCA’s annual desexing campaign, Operation Wanted, which began this week.

In the South Burnett, two practices have signed up so far: Barambah Veterinary Surgery at 217 Haly Street, Kingaroy; and Kingaroy Veterinary Surgery at 30 Avoca Street (cnr Youngman Street).

The participating vets began offering 20 per cent off dog and cat desexing on June 1.

Eight councils, including the South Burnett and Toowoomba councils, are supporting the three-month animal desexing campaign.

RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Emma Lagoon said it was incredible to think Operation Wanted had been running for 10 years, offering pet owners discounted desexing.

Since 2014, it is estimated about 200,000 animals have been desexed across Queensland during Operation Wanted.

“Every animal deserves to be loved and have a home to call their own,” Ms Lagoon said.

“Desexing helps prevent unwanted animals turning up at pounds, shelters and rescue groups.”
