Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery’s annual celebration of arts and crafts always coincides with the official start of winter.

The Queensland Winter Craft Festival occurs every year at the gallery in June and July.

The aim is to offer local residents the opportunity to take part in workshops in the old 1913 Council Chambers in Edward Street (behind the gallery building).

The official opening of the festival – and a display of works by three “clay crafters” – will be held this Saturday at 10:00am.

The first workshop this year, a pottery class led by Lyndell Petersen, will be held on Sunday (June 2) from 10:00am to noon.

Costs is $40, which includes all equipment, but bookings are essential

As the month progresses there will be a mosaics workshop (June 8), silk scarf painting (June 15), prints for kids (June 22), terrarium making (June 22), printmaking (June 23) and pottery sculpture (June 29-30).

More information about these workshops is available by contacting the gallery on 0488-793-419 or 0488-194-850.
