A South Australian man believed to be responsible for an alleged assault near Goomeri last week has been arrested interstate.
Allan Hopkins, 44, was wanted for alleged serious sexual offending involving a child under the age of 18 years in South Australia.
South Australian police issued an alert for him last week after it was believed he could be travelling in south-east Queensland.
Police believe he may be responsible for an incident at a property south of Goomeri about 2:00pm last Thursday during which a man was allegedly struck with a hammer and his vehicle stolen.
South Australian police confirmed on Monday morning that Hopkins had been arrested and was being held in custody.
“He was also wanted for offending in numerous different States,” an SA Police spokesperson said.
“South Australia Police would like to thank all the other States’ authorities for their assistance in bringing this matter to a conclusion.
“SAPOL wish to thank members of the public for their assistance.
“More information will be provided when it comes to hand.”
The ABC is reporting that Hopkins was arrested in NSW.
