A South Burnett Junior Landcare group began meeting in Kingaroy early this year under the guidance of local facilitator Suzanne Mungall.

The free sessions are held in the Kingaroy Library on the fourth Saturday of every month.

Suzanne said the informal group aims to provide a space for children aged 6-14 who care about the environment to make friends.

“Each session focuses on different topics,” Suzanne said.

The children are also given a list of suggested activities to carry out during the month break.

“February focused on ‘Clean up Australia Day’, ‘Earth Hour’ and ‘Wetlands Day’,” Suzanne said.

“The March session focused on ‘Invasive Fish’ and ‘World Frog Day’.

“Games included things such as imitating frog noises, fishing up invasive species, learning how to make a frog ‘hotel’ and creating frogs from leaves and twigs.

“All children and families are welcome.”
