A family fun day held in the grounds of the Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club (KDVMC) has been hailed “a resounding success”.

Club vice-president Matt Lonsdale said the event was put together by KDVMC members in partnership with the SEQ Tractor Pullers.

It featured a large display of trucks as well as live action in the club’s display area, including tractor and truck pulls.

There was no prizes on offer, just lots of fun.

Matt said the day was a fundraiser for the club.

The KDVMC is now making plans for its big annual show, which will be held at its grounds near Kingaroy Airport on September 21-22.

The theme will be “100 Years Of John Deere Tractors” so a big roll-up of classic machinery is expected to come along.

Information for exhibitors is available by emailing the club.

Brent Vandersee and Cheryl Rasmussen, from Blackbutt, were inspecting the trucks on display
Jeff and John Barbeler, from Kingaroy, were taking a break ahead of getting back out on the track in the tractor pulls
Pauline and Ron Godier, and Jaye Forlong, all from Kingaroy, were watching the action under shade
We’re used to seeing tractors in the tractor pull, but trucks? The World War II-era Ford Blitz buggy, top, made light work of the weighted sled, as did the Kingaroy Quarry Supplies’ Western Star (“Rock Star”); the Mazda Bravo “Bundy Bandit” ute kicked up a lot of dust but also successfully made it to the end of the track
