After dominating during the first three rounds, the South Burnett XI fell at the last hurdle in the Goodchild Shield Grand Final played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy on Sunday.
The Bundaberg team, probably still smarting from their loss to the South Burnett on January 21 (and their Shield final loss last year), won the toss and sent the home team into bat.
South Burnett started steadily, with opener and captain Trent Riddell making a half century.
However, while he held up his end, wickets were falling at the other.
Riddell was finally caught with the scoreboard at 7/147; his 54 runs included four boundaries and one six.
Next best of the South Burnett batters was Brenton Polzin who scored a quick 22.
Bundaberg bowler Toby Lamond (3/20 off 3.5 overs) ripped through the South Burnett tail, taking the wickets of Joe Steinhardt for just 12 runs and Ashley Sippel next ball for a duck.
Riley Sippel denied Lamond his hat-trick but was run out shortly afterwards for 10.
When Nathan Roderick (18 runs including three boundaries) fell to Lamond in the 42nd over, South Burnett were all out for 171.
In reply, Roderick made Bundaberg work hard for their victory taking 4/23 off nine overs (including two maidens).
However, Bundaberg prevailed, finishing with 6/172 in the 46th over.

Wooroolin Warriors (3/81) proved too strong for Kingaroy Services Orange in their Round 13 South Burnett Cricket Association senior match played at Taabinga State School on Saturday.
Orange won the toss and elected to bat but were all out for 78 in the 24th over.
Warriors’ first change bowler Douglas Hoare took the key wicket of opener Justin Labinsky (16 runs) with his first ball after Labinsky had looked strong, hitting two boundaries.
Wickets fell quickly after that with captain Travis Bice the only other batter to make it into double figures.
Hoare finished with 3/17 off five overs.
Isaac Hauritz (2/6 off 1.2 overs) and Patrick Figg (2/17 off four) were also strong for Wooroolin.
In reply, Kingaroy Orange overtook the target in the 11th over for the loss of just three wickets.
Brett Simpson top scored with 44, including four 4s and four 6s.
The wickets were taken by Evan Blanch (1/10), Travis Bice (1/12) and Isaac Bice (1/23).
