Rural businesses in the primary production sector have been invited to submit an expression of interest for project funding under the State Government’s $3.3 million Rural Economic Development (RED) grants scheme.

Co-contribution grants of up to $200,000 are available in Round 6.

Grants may be used for capital expenditure on buildings, plant and equipment, as well as consumables used for the funded project.

It may also be used for training costs and technical support for specific projects, as well as salary and on-costs for staff and professionals working on activities for the project.

EOIs close on March 28.

Successful businesses will then be invited to submit a full application by June 21, with final grants to be awarded from August 16.

The Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority will be administering grants on behalf of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.

Agriculture Minister Mark Furner said that since 2018 the RED Grant scheme had committed almost $20 million towards Queensland’s agricultural sector.
