New members have been invited to join the Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary to help fundraise for new equipment for Kingaroy Hospital.
In its 33-year history, the Auxiliary has donated more than $410 000 to the hospital for medical equipment and furnishings.
In 2023, the Auxiliary donated $16,000 for five Aspire recline theatre chairs and a Urocap IV Flowmeter for use by urologists provide more personalised care to patients.
Priscilla, a registered nurse working at the hospital, said that the old theatre recovery chairs were hard, but the news ones were lovely and soft.
“Patients are much more comfortable when reclining and enjoy using the extended footrest,” she said.
The Urocap IV Flowmeter was a first for the hospital and staff expressed their gratitude for the donation when they met with Auxiliary president Alison Murray and member David Morton last week.
The auxiliary raised the $16,000 needed by operating a vending machine at Kingaroy Hospital from 2021 to 2023.
Auxiliary member and former canteen convenor David Morton said that the auxiliary was looking for new members as its current treasurer was moving away and several members retired when the former canteen building was moved.
“We need at least seven members who can attend monthly meetings and assist with fundraising efforts so that we can continue supporting the hospital,” David said.
Local residents have been invited to attend the annual general meeting which will be held on Thursday, February 1, at 3:30pm.

“We wish to thank Peter Mortimer for serving as treasurer for the last seven years,” Alison said.
“We greatly appreciate his input in assisting with the removal of the old canteen building, selling surplus assets, fundraising, and organizational skills.
“We will miss his cheerful manner and willingness to get the job done.”
Did the Hospital Auxiliary manage to gather new members to continue on?
We believe so.
