Five young people – aged from 12 to 17 – have been charged after an armed robbery at the United Petroleum service station at Colinton.

A sixth person, a 24-year-old man, has also been charged in relation to an incident which allegedly occurred while police were attempting to make follow-up arrests on Wednesday.

Police will allege a staff member at the service station was threatened with a knife just after 7:00pm on Saturday before cash and cigarettes were stolen.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

The group fled the scene in an MG ZS, reportedly stolen from Bardon on January 11.

A police spokesperson said this vehicle was located at a fast-food outlet at Oxley on Wednesday.

Police will allege the vehicle was reversed towards officers when they attempted to arrest the occupants.

On Tuesday, police located a 15-year-old girl and 17-year-old girl at Bracken Ridge and a 15-year-old boy at Ellen Grove.

Police will allege the boy was involved in the Colinton robbery as well as other property offences in the Brisbane area on December 28.

Overall, the police investigation resulted in six people being charged with a total of 63 offences.

North Coast Region Regional Crime Co-ordinator Detective Superintendent Ben Fadian said the arrests were the result of co-ordinated and strategic teamwork across police regions.

“Detectives from Brisbane Region, North Coast Region, Southern Region, South Eastern Region and Taskforce Guardian came together to efficiently and safely apprehend this group and I commend their commitment to hold alleged perpetrators to account and keep the community safe,” Det Supt Fadian said.

“Police will continue to relentlessly pursue any persons who repeatedly commit offences and put the safety of the public at risk.”
