The South Burnett Enterprise Centre in Kingaroy has been a hive of activity this week with Christmas hampers being packed for distribution.

The 6th Annual Christmas Food Drive is supporting local families who are facing challenges during the holiday season.

A total of 161 hampers have been put together, including 10 sent to Eva’s Place for distribution.

The initiative is led by Bill Hull Car Centre and South Burnett CTC with support from Kingaroy Shoppingworld, Ryke Fuel, Bunnings Kingaroy, Prices Plus, Peries IGA Kingaroy, the KCCI, South Burnett Police, South Burnett Online and Burnett Today.

Donations of non-perishable food, Christmas treats, festive items, baby products and toiletries were donated by members of the public and left at the various drop-off points.

About $1400 in tax-deductible donations were also made directly to South Burnett CTC.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in our community who has generously contributed to the Christmas Food Drive, as well as to all the dedicated organisations involved year after year,” Bill Hull Car Centre marketing co-ordinator Dana Coe said.

“It is heartening to witness the unity of local organisations and the community, making a positive impact during this festive season.”

Jacqui Trace, from Bill Hull Car Centre, said the Food Drive was getting bigger and bigger every year.

This year two schools supported the project, but next year she expected even more to come on board.

South Burnett CTC also acknowledged the remarkable generosity of the South Burnett community.

“In these challenging times of rising living costs, witnessing the community’s generosity has been extraordinary,” CEO Jason Erbacher said.

“We’re immensely grateful for the selflessness displayed by the people of South Burnett. It’s a testament to the strength of our community spirit.”
