Murgon police are investigating three car thefts this week from local streets, with one of the vehicles still missing:
- Between 11:00pm on Tuesday and 1:25am on Wednesday, thieves entered a Murgon home in Rewald Street via an open window. They stole keys, jewellery and a red Ford Falcon. The car was later found burned out in Fisher Street, Cherbourg.
- Between 9:30pm on Tuesday and 1:30am on Wednesday, thieves broke into a house in Taylor Street, Murgon, and stole a set of car keys. A white Hyundai i30 parked at the address was driven off and later found badly damaged in Murrays Road, Cherbourg.
- A 2019 white Toyota C-HR (rego 958-YVW) was stolen from an address in Gore Street, Murgon, about 1:35am on Friday (November 10). Police say a handbag containing the car keys had been left within the insecure vehicle on the driveway.
A police spokesperson encouraged residents to secure their homes, and lock windows and doors.
“Keys should not be left in plain sight and in no circumstances should they be left within vehicles,” he said.
