Blackbutt axeman Mitch Argent will be testing his skills against the best in the world at the Stihl Timbersports World Championship this week in Germany.

Argent and his four fellow Chopperoos are in Stuttgart to defend Australia’s title as world champions, and compete for a record eighth win in the competition.

The Chopperoos team consists of Argent, Brad De Losa, Brayden Meyer, Laurence O’Toole and Jamie Head.

More than 100 athletes from about 20 nations will compete on November 3-4 to take home the prestigious title.

Argent has tasted success at the world championship before.

He played a vital role in two of Australia’s previous wins, with world record cuts in the vital last leg of the relay.

Argent started chopping wood when he could barely walk and competed in his first competition at the age of 12.

He made the podium in his first appearance at the 2015 Australian championships and has never looked back.
