Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has announced a local fire ban for residents in the South and North Burnett, Cherbourg and Gympie council areas.
The ban, which also covers Fraser Coast and Bundaberg council areas, will be in place from 12:01am on Wednesday (October 25) until at least 11:59pm on October 30.
A QFES spokesperson said the ban was due to heightened fire conditions.
It joins bans already in place in the Toowoomba, Western Downs, Southern Downs, Goondiwindi, Maranoa and Balonne council areas.
Under a local fire ban all open fires are prohibited and all Permits to Light Fire which have been issued in the designated areas have been suspended for the duration of the ban.
Power tools may be used during a local fire ban however QFES has encouraged people to use these with extreme care and ensure adequate equipment was available to extinguish any fire which may start.
This includes having a person available to watch out for any ignitions that occur.
Information on fire bans and the exemptions that can apply can be found on the QFES website
