Murgon’s Courtney Sippel helped the Brisbane Heat to a decisive victory over the Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash League game played at North Sydney Oval on Sunday.
The T20 game will be remembered by fans for the knock by Heat opener Grace Harris, who smashed a WBBL record by hitting an unbeaten 136 runs off 59 balls.
She hit 12 fours and 11 sixes … breaking her bat along the way!
Harris may have grabbed the headlines but Sippel also played a key role in the Brisbane victory.
She took four wickets off her four overs, conceding just 27 runs.
Sippel took the important wicket of Perth’s Lauren Winfield-Hill after the opener looked dangerous, hitting two boundaries.
But in the 10th over, Sippel really stunned Perth, taking three wickets in just four balls, including that of international stars Beth Mooney and captain Sophie Devine.
Brisbane Heat Women are now sitting on top of the WBBL table, undefeated after two games.
Their next game will be against the Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval on Tuesday.
UPDATE: Sippel took 2/23 off four overs against the Sixers, helping the Heat to another win in the WBBL.
