Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Commissioner Greg Leach has announced he will leave the role at the end of this month.
Mr Leach said he will be taking on a new opportunity interstate.
He said it had been an honour to serve as QFES Commissioner.
Emergency Services Minister Mark Ryan thanked Commissioner Leach for his time in charge of the QFES.
“Commissioner Leach has overseen the emergency services response to some significant Queensland events, including the 2022 floods and the K’Gari bushfire,” Minister Ryan said.
“His time as Commissioner has also included the commencement of significant structural reforms to Queensland’s Fire and Emergency Services framework.
“I offer my sincere thanks to Greg for his efforts as Commissioner and offer him my very best wishes for his future endeavours as he moves back to Victoria to take up a new position and spend more time with his family.
“A process to select a new Commissioner will begin in the very near future.”
