The Department Of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) will be upgrading the D’Aguilar Highway at Coolabunia between mid-September and mid-December.

On Wednesday, DTMR announced it would widen a 1.5km stretch of the highway from just south of the Peterson Drive intersection northwards.

The upgrade will introduce a wide centre line to increase the distance between motorists travelling in opposite directions, along with audio tactile line marking and raised reflective pavement markers to alert motorists who veer out of their lane.

The upgrade will also include construction of a dedicated right turn lane between the highway and the Muller Street intersection (at the Coolabunia Saleyards).

The works are the latest stage of a 24km upgrade of the highway between Kingaroy and Nanango which started in 2019.

DTMR expects the project will take 12 weeks to complete, weather permitting, and plans to carry out most work between 6:00am and 6:00pm, Mondays to Fridays.

Motorists should expect some delays if travelling during working hours.
