Kingaroy Red Ants will be hosting their big “Pink Day” on Saturday as a fundraiser for the Melanoma Awareness Foundation.

There will be “pink” items for sale, cake stalls plus a Kick For Cash competition, stalls and the opportunity to meet former Maroons player, ex-Broncos hooker Andrew McCullough.

McCullough, who only retired from NRL duties last year, will be at T.J. O’Neill Oval from 2:00pm.

Then when all the rugby league games are over, he’ll be available to greet fans at the Carrollee Hotel in King Street.

Over 35s Results

Last Saturday, the Murgon Mustangs hosted two Over 35s games at their home ground.

Teams representing Goomeri, Murgon, Wondai and Kingaroy took to the field.

The local derby between Goomeri and Murgon was hotly contested with Murgon coming out on top this year, after being defeated by Goomeri in 2022.

Players from the past mingled with veteran players who are still lacing up their boots in the SBRL’s A Grade competition.

  • Murgon 8 def. Goomeri 4 after leading 8-0 at half-time.

Murgon tries were scored by Aaron Brown and Matt Wilson.
Goomeri’s try was scored by Brett Ryan.

  • Kingaroy 8 def. Wondai 4 after it was 4-all at half-time.

Kingaroy tries were scored by “Deafy” and Curtis.
Wondai’s try was scored by Shannon Exelby.

  • A Grade – Kingaroy 52 def. Murgon 12

Kingaroy try scorers included: Blake Augustine (3), Killian Klease (2), Toby Schmidt, Semesa Madigicala and Lachlan Price. Goals were kicked by Lachlan Price (4) and Sata Tale.
Murgon tries were scored by: Bronson Fogarty (2) and Dada Dunrobin.

  • A Grade – Cherbourg 24 def. Wondai 20

Cherbourg try scorers: Lance Gadd (2), Fredrick Cobbo (2) and Elwyn Fewquandie. Barry Tapau-Fewquandie and Bernard Hopkins each kicked a goal.
Wondai try scorers: Albert Dynevor, Keith Gadd Jnr, Conan Holding and Torren Anderton. Torren Anderton kicked two conversions.

At Toowoomba:

  • Under 15s – Toowoomba Brothers 18 def. South Burnett Eagles 12
  • Under 16s – South Burnett Eagles 26 def. Toowoomba Brothers 10

At Bundaberg:
