Just over 700 cattle were sold at the Fat & Store Sale in Murgon on Tuesday, August 1.
The market for better finished heavier cattle and better quality stores improved, while the market for heifers market remained consistent since the last fortnightly sale.
Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Kingaroy, Yarraman, Nanango, Kilkivan and the Murgon district.
Sale results:
- Heavy Bulls sold to $2.47/kg and $2220
- Bullocks topped at $2.93/kg and $2020
- Cows over 500kg sold to $2.22/kg and $1510, averaging $2.15/kg
- Cows 400-500kg topped at $2.19/kg for $1060
- Cows under 400kg sold to $2.00/kg
- Export heifers sold to $2.76/kg for $1530
- 420kg Simmental cross steers from Redgate sold for $1426 at $3.38/kg
- 337kg Droughtmaster cross steers from Tansey sold for $1130 at $3.36/kg
- Angus cross steers from Gayndah also sold for $3.36/kg, returning $1170
- Santa cross steers from Gayndah sold for $966 at $3.36/kg
- 294kg Brangus steers from Hivesville sold for $3.34/kg, returning $984
- Charbray weaner steers from Manyung sold for $906 at $3.50/kg
- Santa weaner steers from Gayndah sold for $3.36/kg to return $820
- Simbrah weaner steers from Hivesville sold for $858 at $3.28/kg
- Light Droughtmaster steers from Murgon sold for $3.80/kg, returning $620
- 450kg Brangus heifers from Gayndah sold for $1200 at $2.67/kg
- Local Brahman cross heifers sold to $1300 at $2.67/kg
- Braford heifers ex Mt Perry sold for $855 at $2.59/kg
- Local Red Brangus heifers sold for $968 and $2.58/kg
- 289kg Santa cross heifers sold for $750 at $2.60/kg
- A line of Brangus heifers from Gayndah sold for $2.54/kg to $3.12/kg at $795
- Local Charbray weaner heifers sold for $2.51/kg, returning $600
- Charbray weaner heifers from the Stuart River sold to $2.38/kg, returning $628
- Light Droughtmaster cross heifers from Hivesville sold for $2.82/kg and $364
- Angus cross Cows & Calves sold to $1100
