The body of a woman was found in a front bedroom after a devastating house fire at Woolooga on Thursday night.
Emergency services were called to the blaze, in Booker Street, just before midnight.
Firefighters found the building well engulfed in flames when they arrived.
A QFES spokesperson said nine crews – a mix of urban and rural firefighters – attended the incident.
QAS paramedics were also on standby.
Once the fire was extinguished, a body – believed to be that of a woman aged in her 50s – was located.
A police spokesperson said investigations were under way to confirm her identity.
She was the only occupant of the building.
In the meantime, a crime scene has been declared at the site as a matter of routine after a fatal incident.
Fire crews left the scene about 3:40am.
Police and QFES investigators returned on Friday morning to try to determine a cause for the blaze.
Police will also prepare a report for the Coroner.
